Very Handy - Handi's name transition
Hoya Lee wanted to make her daughters name Salgu (apricot) as she could only eat apricot while she was pregnant. However, it was common for a man to name the baby, so eventually she was named by her father's older brother. He named her Hyunji (live smartly/cleverly)!
Hyunji became HyunD when she was a high school girl. The reason? She was too lazy to spell out her whole name. Sooner or later, her friends started to call her '핸디' (Handi) with no specific reason. And people around her also started to call her as Handi. After moving to the Netherlands, she chose by herself to keep 'Handi' as her designer name.
